Tours for School Groups

Experienced guides lead school groups on customised tours of our permanent collection, special exhibitions and library. Tours are offered Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 and 11am.

General Tour

Introducing the new storyline for MIA’s galleries – learn about the importance of religion and learning through art, experience the expansion of the Islamic world and the changes it brought, and finally journey from Spain to Indonesia. We'll tour a variety of galleries and see objects made of different materials.

Architecture Tour

Find out where the inspiration for MIA’s iconic building comes from, learn about the importance of architecture in the Islamic world and identify medieval influence in MIA’s structure.

Science Tour

Explore the golden age of Islamic science with our collection of scientific objects and manuscripts.

Carpets Tour

Explore the style and design of carpets in Islamic art and get to know the different types of fabric and colours and how they were used.

Calligraphy Tour

Explore the wide variety of Arabic calligraphy and the equally wide variety of objects in which it has been used.
