Presented in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), this exhibition highlights the experiences of Afghan refugees following their evacuation from Afghanistan in 2021.

Through a collection of videos, photographs and illustrated stories, Safar underscores Afghanistan’s role as a centre of intellectual debate and artistic excellence for thousands of years.

It also addresses the support of Qatar and its bilateral relations with Afghanistan over the past thirty years, as well as its role during the evacuation process in 2021. Films produced by Qatar’s Ministry of Defense, Qatar TV and Al Jazeera Media Network play a significant role in demonstrating the depth of Qatar’s involvement.

During their recent time in Qatar, Afghan refugees received support in the form of art workshops, academic programmes, story times, mental health care, medical care, shared cultural events, professional sport training, music lessons, and multiple learning opportunities from a total of 15 local entities.

Videos, stories and artwork produced by adults and children alike help illustrate this aid, in addition to the cultural support, music and art provided to help bolster the well-being of the evacuees.

The exhibition also addresses the question of what happens next for the evacuees, Afghanistan and Qatar’s ongoing support.

An interactive feedback wall invites visitors to express their thoughts and feelings.
